Magic Carpet Spiraea

The Spirea Magic Carpet, ‘Spiraea japonica,’ produces clusters of deep pink flowers that will cover the plant in early summer. This is a highly colorful shrub that will fit almost anywhere in the landscape. The vibrant red new growth in the spring will slowly mature through rich bronze to light green with red-tipped foliage. The foliage will take on russet tones that will persist well into November. Spireas are distinguished by the size, bloom color and season of bloom. They all have small leaves that grow on fine, twiggy branches. The shrubs also become very drought tolerant once they are established.
