Burpee Big Boy Tomato



The Tomato Burpee Big Boy, ‘Lycopersicon lycopersicum,’ is a vigorous plant that has heavy foliage and produces large fruits. This plant is a long time best seller with firm, smooth fruits of an excellent quality with great flavor to boot. Introduced in 1949, the Burpee Big Boy is incredibly productive and produces perfect fruits. The soil should be well drained and high in organic matter. In warmer regions, tomatoes can be planted in early fall for a harvest in the winter. When watering, the soil should be soaked to a depth of six to ten inches. The plants require at least six hours of direct sunlight every day.

The Geranium Appleblossom, ‘Pelargonium x hortorum,’ produces beautiful soft pink double flowers, which are complemented nicely by distinct leaf zoning.

Having an upright growth habit and great landscape performance, these plants are commonly used as a bedding or container plant that is grown in almost every region of the country. The plants feature succulent leaves and stems.

Geraniums should be planted in ordinary well-drained soil. Too much fertilization will result in excessive foliage with fewer flowers. To promote extra bushiness, the shoots should be pinched off. Deadheading of spend flowers will promote enhanced flowering.


The Decorative Dahlia Lavender Perfection, ‘Dahlia,’ will produce velvety lavender flowers. This spring planted tuberous root will produce masses of these lovely large blooms from July until the first frost.

Dahlias are the perfect selection for containers, borders, massings and cut flowers. They will grow best in a well draining, humus rich soil.

Dahlias bloom for a very long time and will be able to offer more variety and beauty that almost any other flower.


The Begonia Double Scarlet, ‘Begonia Double Scarlet,’ displays large, scarlet colored flowers with petals that look like roses. The flowers are double, vividly colored and up to six inches across.

This spring planted tuber will be able to perform in the shade. The plants will be filled with blooms and have an elegant, robust look to them.

This plant performs best in a partially shaded outdoor location that is protected from strong winds. They are ideal for shady locations in need of color, such as under trees or on decks.
